Plastic Bag Free Overton
Overton is on target to become the first Plastic Bag Free Village in Hampshire and the whole of the south east of England. Overton's exclusively designed, "We're Free" cotton bags, are available to buy at shops in the village and 100% bio-degradable corn-starch bags will be available in many shops as an alternative to plastic bags. As corn-starch bags are much more expensive than plastic bags, and the long-term aim is to encourage customers to bring their own bags, most shops will be charging for the bags. For further information on the campaign, please contact Peter Baker on 01256 770007, and please do let your local shopkeepers know that you support their efforts.
